Telecommunication Network Specialist 3Join WVNET's Telecommunications Team and help design, secure, and support the network infrastructure that connects higher education institutions, K-12 schools, government agencies, libraries, nonprofits, and organizations throughout West Virginia. This Telecommunication Network Specialist 3 position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking technologies while serving as a technical leader on statewide networking initiatives.What You'll DoBuild, maintain, and optimize enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, and internet networks.Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, and network security solutions.Ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing connectivity for customers across the state.Troubleshoot advanced network, routing, wireless, and security issues.Monitor network performance and implement improvements to increase reliability and resilience.Participate in on-call support for critical network services.Plan and implement network upgrades, expansions, and modernization initiatives.Work closely with customers, vendors, carriers, and internal teams to deliver effective solutions.Serve as a technical leader and mentor for networking projects and initiatives.Support emerging technologies, cloud connectivity, VoIP services, and next-generation network solutions.Evaluate new tools and technologies that enhance performance, security, and customer experience.What We're Looking ForWe're seeking a highly skilled networking professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading projects, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate would have:Expert understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, LAN/WAN technologies, and enterprise network architecture.Strong knowledge of network security, wireless networking, VPNs, VoIP, and Internet connectivity.Advanced proficiency with Cisco networking technologies and Cisco CLI.Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to team members.Capacity to remain calm and make sound decisions during outages and critical incidents.Work Environment & TravelPosition is based in Morgantown, West Virginia. Participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation is required. Occasional evening, weekend, and overnight work may be necessary to support maintenance and emergency response activities.
