Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Barista to join our small dessert shop team in NYC. This role requires an individual with an NYC Food Protection Certificate who can efficiently prepare high-quality beverages while delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable operating espresso machines and cash registers, and able to collaborate effectively with team members. Evening and weekend availability is regularly required, with typical shifts ranging from 6 to 10+ hours. This position functions as an individual contributor without supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso and other beverages with consistent quality
- Provide friendly and attentive customer service
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and overall upkeep of the coffee shop and equipment
- Operate espresso machines and other related equipment safely
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with team members to meet shop goals and maintain smooth operations
Required Qualifications
- NYC Food Protection Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in food service
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with cash register operation
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Effective teamwork and communication abilities
- Attention to detail in beverage preparation
- Punctuality is essential & reliable - must arrive on time
