Night Custodial Supervisor - Houston Christian University Facilities

Job Description The Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of projects. The candidate will be an important member of the team to ensure that the goals & deadlines of this area are achieved. Job Responsibilities Supervise and lead custodial staff assigned to night shifts across campus buildings Assign nightly work schedules and ensure tasks are completed according to established cleaning standards Conduct routine inspections of facilities to verify quality, safety, and compliance Provide hands‑on support, coaching, and training to custodial staff as needed Address service requests, emergencies, and operational issues in a timely and professional manner Enforce university policies, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment and chemicals Maintain accurate shift reports, inspection logs, and incident documentation Communicate effectively with day supervisors and management regarding completed work and follow‑up needs Monitor staffing levels, respond to call‑outs, and assist with timekeeping accuracy Ensure secure access to facilities during overnight hours Qualifications High school diploma or GED Minimum of 2 years of custodial or facilities experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role preferred Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, equipment, and safety practices Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during overnight hours Effective verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a university or large campus environment Familiarity with floor care, events, and specialized cleaning processes Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to perform repetitive motions and operate custodial equipment This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
