Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for the position). Ability to pass background checks as mandated by state and federal regulations. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Demonstrated compassion and patience in working with individuals with disabilities. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working as a Direct Support Professional or in a related caregiving role. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Training or coursework in developmental disabilities, behavioral health, or related fields. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Familiarity with electronic documentation systems and basic computer skills. Responsibilities: Provide direct care and assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility support. Implement individualized support plans by following specific instructions and adapting approaches to meet the evolving needs of each client. Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being, communicating effectively with supervisors and healthcare professionals. Facilitate social, recreational, and educational activities that promote skill development, community involvement, and personal growth. Ensure a safe and clean living environment by adhering to health and safety protocols and responding promptly to emergencies or behavioral challenges. Skills: The required skills such as effective communication and compassion are essential for building trust and rapport with clients, ensuring their needs are understood and met daily. Attention to detail and the ability to follow care plans accurately help maintain consistency and safety in client support. Preferred skills like CPR certification and experience with behavioral health enable the DSP to respond confidently to emergencies and challenging situations. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial as the role often requires adjusting to changing client needs and schedules.
