STERILE PROCESSING MANAGER FULL TIME DAYS

Responsibilities Alan B. Miller Medical Center is a neighborhood hospital with medical center excellence! The new state-of-the-art hospital will join UHS’ growing regional network of healthcare operations which includes Wellington Regional Medical Center, the ER at Westlake (an extension of Wellington Regional Medical Center), Wellington Physicians Urgent Care and other healthcare services and access points. The Alan B. Miller Medical Center will feature 150 private patient rooms, a medical office building and a helistop. Upon completion of the initial phase of the project, the hospital campus will include 365,000 square feet of hospital and medical office space. The new Medical Center will offer comprehensive medical services including Emergency Care, Orthopedics and Surgical Services, Oncology, Cardiovascular and Neurosurgical services. In addition, the campus will be home to medical office buildings that will provide outpatient services. Manager – Sterile Processing. Provides oversight and local operations management of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) supporting Surgical Services, various nursing units, and off-site clinics. Ensures coordinated and timely delivery of reprocessed items to clinical stakeholders within the health care organization. Ensures local facility sterilization and High Level Disinfection (HLD) functions comply with all regulatory requirements. Manages SPD personnel and serves as liaison between SPD and other departments. Maintains effective interdepartmental relationships, coordinates and resolves problems, and ensures cooperation with other programs and services. In conjunction with Surgical Services Director, manages the overall SPD budget including determining resource needs, allocating resources and ensuring proper utilization in productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness of SPD operations. Develops and maintains a system of internal reviews that ensure service programs operation in compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations. Qualifications Educational Requirements: Associate’s degree in healthcare required; bachelor’s degree in science or healthcare preferred. Experience: Minimum of five years in Sterile Processing with increasing responsibility. Prior management experience preferred. Skills: Computer skills to include Microsoft office products (PowerPoints, Excel, Word), various applications related to instrument management (Censis, OneSource). License/Certification: Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required. Additional certifications: Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS), Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER), Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) through Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). These certifications must be maintained as a term of employment and must be acquired by new employees or current employees grandfathered into the role within two years.
