The Georgia Tech Library has a unique and progressive service model that relies heavily on technology and electronic formats. Job Summary The Library (library.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for an early career professional to join the teaching team in the Academic Engagement department. The Research and Instruction Librarian is responsible for providing library-based research support to the Georgia Tech community, especially students, faculty and staff in STEM disciplines. Academic Engagement plays a vital role for the library and the institution in supporting the research and learning of Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff. The Research and Instruction Librarian will teach the Georgia Tech community in information, multimedia, and/or data literacy skills. The Research and Instruction Librarian will develop classes and workshops to adjust to a changing technological environment and create asynchronous learning materials to reach users at their point of need. Worksite location is Atlanta, GA. This is a 12-month faculty position with an effort distribution of 80% librarianship, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional service to the library profession. Up to two (2) years credit for previous professional experience may be given at the time of employment, in which case such credit will be stated in the offer letter. Responsibilities Provide and improve library services and resources; enrich the research, learning, and scholarship of the Georgia Tech community through the following: 80% Librarianship Design and deliver library instruction by applying best practice design principles to create effective learning experiences through in-person, hybrid, or online modalities. Supplement in-person instruction in Academic Engagement for multimedia, data, or information literacy skills. Collaborate with Library colleagues and faculty to integrate various literacies (data, information, digital, multimodal) into the curriculum. Create online tutorials, interactive modules, or virtual workshops. Collaborate with Library colleagues to provide research support services to the Georgia Tech community including students, faculty, staff and other affiliates and develop a working knowledge of the information needs of the STEM fields that are part of the curriculum. Represent the library and engage with campus communities. Work with Academic Engagement colleagues to create and maintain departmental workflows and documentation to enable knowledge transfer. Stay abreast of educational technology trends and tools as well as the library profession overall by pursuing professional development opportunities. Other duties as assigned 10% Scholarship and Creative Endeavors According to expectations for library faculty members, contribute professionally through research, scholarship, and creative activities. 10% Service to the Library, Institute, and LIS Profession Foster positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promote the Institute and Library\'s commitment to the Georgia Tech values. Serve on library and university committees as assigned. Contribute to the profession through service to professional organizations at the local, state, regional, and national levels, as appropriate. Required Qualifications This position vacancy will be filled at the rank of Librarian I. The final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Non-tenure Track Academic Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.2 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook ( Librarian I/Archivist I Appointment to this rank requires an appropriate terminal degree, typically an American Library Association (ALA) - accredited master\'s degree, a degree in a subject related to archival work, and/or in the appropriate area of specialization. Additional expertise and/or experience may be required for specific positions. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in academic libraries. Proposed Salary This is a benefits-eligible position with a minimum salary of $71,260 commensurate with education and experience.
