Company Description Helping Hands Supported Living, LLC is a Supported Living Services (SLS) agency that provides support for adults with developmental disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities. Services are provided through the San Diego Regional Center and are individualized to each person’s needs and goals. Support may include assistance with daily living activities, locating and maintaining affordable housing, and managing personal finances. The agency also focuses on community participation, helping individuals access resources, build relationships, and engage in meaningful activities. Role Description The Direct Support Professional is a full-time, part-time, or on-call role based in San Diego County, providing individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and other activities of daily living as needed to promote safety and independence. The role involves supporting individuals with accessing transportation, appointments, community outings, social activities, and maintaining connections with family and friends. The Direct Support Professional will help individuals manage budgets, follow schedules, and develop skills that support independent living. Additional tasks include documenting services, following individualized support plans, participating in team meetings and trainings, and communicating effectively with supervisors, and other service providers. Qualifications Background or interest in Human Services, social services, or related fields and a commitment to person-centered support. Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build rapport, listen actively, and collaborate with individuals, families, and team members. Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Intellectual Disabilities and best practices for supporting adults with developmental disabilities in community settings. Ability to participate in Training, follow support plans, learn agency procedures, and comply with regulatory and safety requirements. High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in human services or related areas is preferred. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet driving and background check requirements as applicable. Ability to work varied shifts (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) and provide physical assistance as needed.
