Job Description

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio State Highway Patrol Report in Location: 1970 W Broad Street, Columbus 43223 Working days and hours may vary Shift May Be 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm, OR 11pm - 7am (depending on seniority bid) Perks of Working for the Ohio Department of Public Safety Multiple pay increases over the first years of service! Free Parking! Free Gym Access & Walking Path! Daycare On-site! Cafeteria On-site! What You'll Do as a Security Officer 1 Maintain the security of the Charles D. Shipley building & grounds. Monitor persons entering & leaving facility, providing access to restricted areas. Respond to inquiries by telephone &/or in person & record such actions in the appropriate log. Control access to facilities & surrounding grounds by operating remote access electronic doors & security gates. Monitor surveillance cameras.

Qualifications

Formal education that includes reading, writing & speaking English. Job Skills - Security Supplemental Information TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT If assigned responsibility for rendering first aid/C.P.R/Automated External Defibrillator (i.e., AED), applicant must obtain required certifications by end of probationary period and must maintain valid certifications to continue employment. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS May be required to work rotating shifts & weekends. May be exposed to bodily fluids &/or infectious diseases. This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency. Background Check Information A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process.
