Field Service Technician 3 - EngineHolt CAT is seeking an experienced Engine Field Service Technician for the Power Systems Division in Irving, Texas. This position is responsible for performing high-quality field service repair work on industrial or natural gas engines in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel in the local region. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Must have a safe driving record. Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT Physical. Travel will be required.Essential FunctionsTroubleshoot and perform complex repairs correctly in the field such as industrial engines and transmissions.3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills in industrial engines and transmissions.Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment using electronic and manual equipment to determine failure. CAT ET & CAT SIS 2.0 knowledge preferred.Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards. Performs basic to intermediate repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications.Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job.Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order.Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.Completes assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate time and re-work standards.Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs.Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians.Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.Performs other duties as assigned.The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of safe work procedures and practicesKnowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceIntermediate knowledge of diesel and natural gas enginesDemonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and knowledge of machine electronic systemsExceptional skills in customer serviceIntermediate diagnostic and trouble-shooting skillsPlanning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resourcesOperation and control skills of equipment or systemsEquipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to operate a crane and forklift, and obtain required certifications/licensesAbility to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstancesAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repairThe ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsRequirementsEducation and Experience:More than three years of industrial engine repair experience is required; five or more years preferredDiesel Technology schooling preferredMSHA certification preferredSupervisory Responsibilities:NoneTravel:Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stayAdditional Requirements:Valid Driver's license requiredAbility to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving recordMust own required tools to perform repairsPhysical Requirements:Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigueFrequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lbConstant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and staminaAscends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipmentBe able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipmentRoutinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect workWork Environment:Requires wearing common protective or safety equipmentRegularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at timesMay be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityExposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipmentRequired to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high placesAbout HOLT CATHOLT Group is a renowned, family-owned company with a legacy spanning nearly a century.
