Senior Accountant

A growing, private equity-backed company in Brookfield is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the Controller and offers the opportunity to take significant ownership of the monthly close, financial reporting, account analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Take an active role in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger activity
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate account variances
• Assist with preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
• Perform budget-to-actual and period-over-period variance analysis
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
• Support annual financial statement audits and prepare requested documentation
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting as needed
• Ensure accounting activities comply with established policies, internal controls, and GAAP
• Partner with the Controller on accounting projects and financial analysis
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and strengthen internal controls
• Help enhance accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation as the organization continues to grow
• Support additional accounting and finance initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working with an ERP or financial reporting system
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across the organization
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, but not required
• Experience in a private equity-backed, acquisitive, or high-growth organization is a plus
