Abundance Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team of mental health professionals. This full-time role, operating primarily in a remote outpatient setting, focuses on delivering specialized mental health care to the geriatric population of Austin, Texas. Work Environment

This role offers a flexible remote work setting, allowing you to engage with clients in a convenient and accessible manner. While the majority of interactions will occur through telehealth platforms, there will be opportunities to meet patients in a conducive outpatient office environment as needed. Your work schedule will typically be Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on client requirements and caseload demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that consider clients’ cognitive, physical, and social circumstances.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy, family therapy, and group sessions, aimed at managing geriatric psychiatric conditions.
• Collaborate effectively with geriatric psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and holistic client care.
• Conduct crisis interventions to support elderly patients during mental health emergencies, utilizing your clinical expertise to stabilize situations.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, treatment pathways, and available community resources—fostering a supportive network.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential client documentation to adhere to legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
• Actively participate in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities to enhance your therapeutic skills.
• Stay updated on advances in geriatric psychiatry and incorporate best practices into your clinical work.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role will be the geriatric population, an often underserved demographic with specific mental health challenges. You will work closely with older adults experiencing a range of issues, from depression and anxiety to complex cognitive decline and adjustment disorders related to aging. Your ability to build rapport and trust with elderly clients and their families will be essential in fostering a therapeutic relationship that promotes healing and resilience.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred, ideally within a geriatric mental health setting.
• Strong knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based therapies relevant to elderly care.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centered and empathetic approach.
• Experience delivering individual and family therapy to older adults, with an emphasis on understanding their unique life experiences.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant computer applications.
• A collaborative mindset, capable of working within a multidisciplinary team structure.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated experience in delivering group therapy sessions tailored to older adults.
• Familiarity with community resources and services available for geriatric patients and their families.
• Experience in crisis management and emergency intervention techniques within a geriatric context.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 75,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
