Access Specialist I | Patient Registration

Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest as a Patient Access Specialist I, where your role is vital in delivering compassionate and high-quality customer service. This position focuses on ensuring patients are accurately scheduled and registered for clinic and hospital services, supporting them throughout their care journey, including managing financial responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Schedule and register patients using applicable software systems, ensuring data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.
  • Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for services as needed.
  • Conduct registration interviews prior to initial visits.
  • Perform point-of-service collections such as co-payments and co-insurances, manage daily cash drawer operations, and generate payment receipts.
  • Operate multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls professionally and route information appropriately.
  • Respond to patient inquiries, ensuring comfort, dignity, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Complete daily work queue assignments and general administrative tasks.
  • Process incoming, outgoing, and inter-office mail accurately.
  • Research and suggest workflow improvements.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle preferred.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification encouraged.

Physical Requirements

Includes frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 35 lbs, and occasional carrying and pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs. Vision, hearing, and speech within normal range with or without corrective devices.

Work Environment
