We're looking for a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst with 2 or more years of experience who's ready to take ownership of their own work streams. You'll join a collaborative team building custom software for clients across a wide range of industries, which means a lot of variety and a lot of chances to learn something new. You'll report to a Senior Business Analyst or Team Lead who's there to support you, remove roadblocks, and help you grow, while you take the lead on the day-to-day analysis and testing work for your projects.Above all, we're looking for someone who's a good teammate: adaptable, easy to work with, and steady when priorities shift.This job description does not cover all duties and responsibilities. Team members may be asked to take on additional tasks as needed, which may or may not be directly related to their primary role, based on business requirements.Roles and ResponsibilitiesRequirements and DocumentationFacilitate requirements gathering sessions with client stakeholders and translate discussion into clear, buildable documentationWrite business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows with minimal reworkProduce wireframes and workflow diagrams to support requirements discussionsMaintain project documentation so it stays accurate as scope evolvesIdentify gaps, conflicts, and unstated assumptions in requirements before they reach developmentQuality Assurance and TestingOwn the QA cycle for assigned features: build test plans and cases, execute manual testing, and report resultsPerform functional, usability, regression, and cross-browser testing on custom web applicationsWrite and maintain automated test scripts using AI-assisted or traditional testing toolsWrite defect tickets that developers can act onTrack issues through resolution and verify fixes before releaseUAT and Release SupportCoordinate user acceptance testing, including preparing UAT documentation and guiding client testers through itTriage client UAT feedback into actionable tickets and distinguish defects from change requestsSupport release activities and post-deployment validationTeam and ProcessManage your own ticket queue and flag risks early rather than after a deadline slipsCollaborate directly with developers, designers, and project managers on scope, feasibility, and sequencingServe as a primary point of contact across discovery, requirements, QA, and delivery on lean cross-functional teamsContribute improvements to team templates, processes, and standardsRequired Knowledge, Experience, and SkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience2–5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, QA Analyst, or similarly hands-on delivery roleDemonstrated experience writing requirements documentation and user stories that development teams have actually built fromHands-on experience testing web applications, including writing your own test cases and performing manual and automated testingWorking experience with ticketing and documentation platforms; Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) preferredComfortable working directly with clients and non-technical stakeholders, including delivering unwelcome news about scope or timelinePractical experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as part of your day-to-day work: drafting documentation, analyzing requirements, summarizing meetings, or accelerating researchSolid understanding of how web applications are structured, including basic familiarity with APIs, databases, and integrationsStrong GSuite experience (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides)Strong written communication: your documentation should be clear enough that it doesn't need to be explainedWell-organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage competing priorities across more than one projectAble to work independently with a senior team member available for guidance, rather than requiring day-to-day directionPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)Experience with Claude specifically, including working with Projects, custom instructions, or MCP connectorsExperience with data analytics, data mining, or SQLFamiliarity with API integrations and how to investigate and document themAI-assisted coding experience using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar to read code, write scripts, or prototypeAgile/Scrum delivery experience in a client services, consulting, or agency environmentExperience with process mapping or diagramming toolsLevel ExpectationsHave 2–5 years of hands-on BA or QA experience and are looking to grow, not manageWant to deepen your craft as an analyst with room to grow into senior scope over timeAre comfortable being accountable for your own workstreams within a larger delivery effortAre comfortable with a compensation range of $75,000–$85,000Compensation and Benefits:Annualized base salary range is: $75,000 to $85,000.Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.Flexible work options: Work from our beautiful office in Frederick, MD, or remotely.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with nationwide options to meet your needs wherever you hang your hat.Company-paid life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability.
