Clinical Research Nurse II - Phase I Clinical Research & Participant Safety
Location: 100% onsite - Grayslake, IL

Length of Assignment: 6+ months with extension depending on performance (possibly more than a year & potential for future permanent employment)
Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM; training follows the same schedule.
Pay Rate: $39-42/hr (depending on medical benefits preference)

Job Description:
Purpose: The Clinical Research Nurse is a specialized research professional working with and under the direction of the clinical Principal Investigator (PI). The nurse assists with the execution of study-related activities for Phase I clinical research studies, with primary responsibility for the protection and care of research subjects. The role functions as a licensed Registered Nurse providing care and assessments for healthy volunteers and/or patients. The position also disseminates new information for documentation, performance improvement, and data-source upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review protocols and informed consent forms for scheduled studies; identify and communicate potential issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Participate in nursing and study-related activities required by the protocol, in compliance with corporate, divisional, and departmental SOPs and external regulatory guidelines, including CFR and ICH GCP.
• Maintain compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
• Evaluate adverse events and manage safety-reporting activities in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator, study physicians, Recruiting/Screening, Data Systems, and other personnel in support of study-specific activities.
• Support quality and compliance improvement initiatives, as appropriate.
• Participate in recruitment and screening activities to support successful enrollment of volunteers into studies scheduled at the Phase I Unit.
• Interface with research participants to help determine eligibility and support the informed-consent process according to protocol; review and assess collected data.
• Serve as a resource or consultant within the applicable area of clinical expertise for recruiting and screening activities.
• Dispense investigational drug and provide administration teaching, as necessary.
• Develop accurate source materials, promote site-staff compliance, and ensure all protocol procedures are completed according to study requirements.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse licensure for Illinois and strong clinical nursing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer-service skills when working with participants, study teams, and clinical personnel.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing study priorities in a regulated clinical-research setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record platforms (Epic, Cerner or similar)
