Job Title: Director of Finance- Full time position

Department: System-wide

Reports To: President of Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools

Start Date: Available immediately. Open until filled.

Location: BHCS Administration Office

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Role and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all business operations of the schools including accounting, budgeting, cash management and audit functions.
• Monthly financial reporting to President, Principals, School Board and Diocese.
• Development and monitoring of the annual operating budget.
• Ensure that financial record keeping is in accordance with accepted accounting principles.
• Responsible for internal control policies to safeguard assets and monitor compliance.
• Generation and updating of Five-year Business Plan on an on-going basis.
• Supervision of payroll and employee benefits functions.
• Oversight of the purchasing of goods and services.
• Serve on the Diocesan Insurance Committee and provide input as it pertains to employee health, life, and dental insurance plans on an annual basis.
• Assist in communication of school benefit policies to employees at annual renewal in the spring.
• Implementation and administration of system tuition policies.
• Blackbaud, Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs), Coordinate with TADS third party vendor in the calculation and allocation of tuition assistance and scholarship funds to school families in the spring and as needed throughout the year.
• Assist in providing written and verbal communication to families as it pertains to tuition.
• Prepare, present and coordinate the annual external financial audit.
• Responsible for banking and investment relationships.
• Work on an as-needed basis with the parish pastors on any school/parish related issues.
• Supervision of accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and administration assistant staff.
• Special projects on an as-needed basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, customer service oriented.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills such as MS Word and Excel. Experience in Great Plains, Blackbaud, Microsoft Dynamics and Management Reporter preferred.
• Ability to work well with parents, staff, and the public.

• President, Advancement team, Principals, Athletic and Activities Departments
• Administrative office staff
• School Board and School Finance committee; Diocesan Finance Office and Diocesan Finance committee.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of ten years relevant experience.
• Previous audit preparation required.
• Experience in a computerized accounting environment.
• Experience managing the operations of a business is a plus.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Sedentary work- involves sitting most of the time, walking and standing are required occasionally. Duties require occasional travel with evening and weekend meetings. Regular driving and valid driver's license are required.

Substitute Teachers- System-wide

Job Title: Substitute Teachers

Reports To: Principal at School Location/s

Start Date: Immediate

Primary Purpose:

To form students academically, emotionally, and spiritually while instilling a love for others, for God, and for their Catholic faith.

Essential Functions:

1. Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for the students.

2. Track attendance.

3. Administer quizzes and tests, explain assignments, and collect homework.

4. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.

5. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.

6. Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria.

7. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.

8. For long-term substitutes: develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the teacher's regular lesson plans.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:

A valid and current Substitute Teacher license or authorization

• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in education

• Strong English verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages

• General knowledge of several subjects

• Ability to adapt plans to specific classrooms

• Flexibility and critical-thinking skills

• Patience

Duties may require travel and attendance at evening and/or weekend meetings. Although work is performed primarily under inside environmental conditions, the required travel may result in temporary exposure to outside environmental conditions. Regular driving and valid driver's license are required. Duties require a wide range of intellectual and practical problem-solving skills and comprehension of complex concepts.
