JOB SUMMARY
The Buyer analyzes market trends, negotiates with suppliers for best pricing and terms, and ensures that the company’s procurement needs are met. The Buyer reviews requisitions for completeness and accuracy and investigates any issues before contacting vendors. This highly visible and important role will interact daily with the Director of Production, production team and suppliers. Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as the needs of the business change without feeling overwhelmed is a must.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accurate data entry into the company financial system.
• Creates Purchase Orders in the company financial system.
• Handles expedited requests received from the production team.
• Communicates with vendors in writing and orally to follow-up on orders.
• Works with Accounts Payable to problem solve & facilitate the processing of invoices.
• Advises department heads regarding purchase and supply requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise, delivery needs and costs.
• Explores and recommends alternatives to save or improve delivery.
• Identifies new vendors regarding pricing, availability, delivery times and cost.
• Bids long-term contracts of unlimited amounts for repetitively purchased items.
• Maintains proficiency in automated systems used for purchasing functions such as inventory control, vendor contract information, cost control and bid analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: HS Diploma minimum, Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Experience: 2 – 5 years’ experience, manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
