The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Pulmonologist to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.
This position is full or part-time, 50%-100%
This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
Provide clinical service to pediatric pulmonology patients at UW Health Kids locations.
Engage in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest (CHS Track only)
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (applicable to Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track). An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

The Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine is focused on improving the health of children with lung diseases and breathing and sleep disorders. Its doctors are specialists who diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, from chronic cough to lifelong disorders including cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and pulmonary hypertension. Division members provide family-centered, community-based, culturally competent, coordinated, and interdisciplinary care. The multidisciplinary clinical team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and respiratory therapists. The division has a robust outpatient pediatric sleep program and a sleep laboratory in which to perform polysomnography and treat children with a variety of sleep-related problems. The division also has active clinical and research programs in cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular respiratory disease, aero digestive issues, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. The division staffs one of the top cystic fibrosis centers in the nation and is part of the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutic Development Network.
Madison is the second largest city in the state, with a city population of approximately 280,000 and a regional population of over 1 million. The city is within easy driving distance of Chicago and Milwaukee. Madison's technology economy is growing rapidly, and the region is home to the headquarters of Epic Systems, Exact Sciences, and Promega, as well as many biotech, health care IT, and health systems startups. Other large employers headquartered in the area include Sub-Zero Wolf, Lands' End, American Family Insurance, TruStage, Trek Bicycles, and Duluth Trading Company.
Madison is rich with cultural offerings, abundant outdoor activities, and one of the strongest local food scenes in the country: from April to October, the Capitol Square hosts the largest producer-only farmers' market in the country. The city has a dedicated athletics fan base largely centered around the Big 10 University of WisconsinMadison. In addition, Madison is home to a professional soccer team, Forward Madison FC, and a professional ultimate frisbee team, the Madison Radicals. The Madison Mallards is a collegiate wood-bat summer baseball league team and the Madison Night Mares is a summer collegiate softball team. Marquee endurance sports and specialty sporting events include Ironman, Madison Marathon, and many national and international championship competitions.

Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Pulmonology from the American Board of Pediatrics is required by the appointment start date.
Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Pulmonology is required by the appointment start date.
Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required by the start date of the position.
WI Medical license by start date of position.
Board-certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by start date of position.
Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.
For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.
