Overview SimVentions is looking for a junior to mid level embedded software developer to help develop government systems on-site at NSWCDD. Travel Travel on occasion within Continental US. Clearance An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance. Requirements 3-5 Years experience with embedded software development related to microcontrollers or similar devicesProficiency in CExperience in C#Experience with gitExperience with software debugging and associated toolsExperience with hardware debugging at the logical level and associated toolsExperience with Code Composer Studio and/or MPLAB X and/or Visual StudioBasic knowledge of satellite constellationsBasic testing, troubleshooting, & soldering skillsKnowledge of embedded software development for hardware is requiredKnowledge of hardware architectures, microcontrollers and communication protocolsKnowledge of writing test cases, unit testing and validation of hardware software integrationKnowledge in diagnosing and resolving network-related issues, including network configuration, connectivity, and data transmission problemsAbility to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing range/field environment with a focus on fielding a productAbility to work with others to meet established goals and program schedulesAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Responsibilities The Firmware Developer will write firmware to run on specified microcontrollers to achieve desired functionality. This functionality can range from making a device more robust to adding user desired functionality to adding support for a new set of hardware (GNSS engine, satellite transceiver, etc.). Updating or writing tools to be able to configure newly updated devices is also expected.Coding embedded microcontrollersDevelop embedded software for new and existing systemsWrite firmware to run on specified microcontrollers to achieve desired functionalityThis functionality can range from making a device more robust to adding user desired functionality to adding support for a new set of hardware (GNSS engine, satellite transceiver, etc.)Updating or writing tools to be able to configure newly updated devicesSupport testing and assessment of embedded systems locally and at external locationsUtilize software development best practices within government development processesIdentify and incorporate the latest hardware, technology, and techniques in this rapidly evolving environmentRoutinely collaborate with the government team through regularly scheduled meetings on-site Preferred Skills and Experience Excellent communication skills Education Degree in Computer Science, or related Engineering Field Compensation Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.The projected annual compensation range for this position is $79,000 - $110,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
