Greater Pittsburgh Region | Full-Time | Competitive Pay + BenefitsGulisek Construction, founded in 1965, is a leading bridge, highway, and concrete paving contractor and part of the PJ Dick - Trumbull - The Lindy Group family of companies - a Top 100 national builder (ENR) and multiple-time winner of Pittsburgh's "Best Places to Work."PRIMARY FUNCTION:Smoothes, finishes, and molds structures.TYPICAL DUTIES:Smoothes and finishes surfaces of poured concrete to specified textures using hand or power tools; spreads concrete into forms; levels concrete to specified depth and consistency; removes rough or defective spots; molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedgesUses tools and equipment including floats, trowels, screeds, power grinders, and chisel and hammerReads and understands sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions, and examines specifications to determine structure dimensionsMay erect, climb, and work on scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at heights up to 100 feet above ground or 50 feet below ground; may be required to use body harness or other fall protectionSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GEDCompletion of apprenticeship program, or related experience and/or trainingAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measureAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situationsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions and handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situationsKnowledge of and adherence to company safety policies and proceduresWhy Gulisek: 60 years in business, family-owned, part of a nationally ranked builder family, and guided by Safety, Quality, Integrity, Family, and Community.WORKING CONDITIONS:Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold and heat, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high and/or precarious places; exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration; loud working environment.COMMENTS:The information provided in this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by incumbents within this job.
