Training Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
Post-Training Schedule: Rotating schedule between:

• Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
• Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM CST

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing clinical oversight and ensuring patient safety across all daily operations of the assigned patient care team. This role supports patients through comprehensive medication reviews, counseling, therapy management, and collaboration with healthcare providers while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.


Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical reviews of patient pharmacotherapy, including:
• Drug utilization review
• Patient counseling
• Medication compliance monitoring
• Drug interaction screening
• Side effect management
• Drug administration support
• Document pharmacotherapy review findings in patient charts.
• Counsel patients initiating new therapies according to clinical management models.
• Complete REMS training and comply with program requirements.
• Coordinate patient care with referring clinicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, caregivers, nurses, hospice providers, and prescribing clinicians.
• Provide subcutaneous injection teaching and support to patients and caregivers.
• Participate in pharmacist on-call coverage as assigned.
• Process prescriptions accurately and timely.
• Manage patient therapy discontinuation processes and documentation.
• Implement disease-state and product-specific clinical management programs.
• Serve as the primary intake pharmacist for new patient referrals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and healthcare providers.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions.

Operations Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other government payer requirements.
• Dispense medications in accordance with physician orders and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Verify prescription order accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform final verification and quality assurance checks on dispensed medications.
• Support pharmacy technicians with claims adjudication and payment processing.
• Monitor hazardous waste management procedures.
• Oversee aseptic technique compliance and pharmacy quality standards.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff.
• Utilize patient education resources effectively.
• Report adverse events and product quality complaints in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Active Texas Pharmacist license in good standing.
• Licensed and authorized to practice pharmacy with no restrictions.
• Minimum 2–3 years of direct patient counseling experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-graduate pharmacy experience involving clinical oversight, pharmacy operations, and patient care.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer and documentation skills.
• Ability to apply for additional state licensure if required.
• Comfortable providing patient counseling and spending 7–8 hours daily on the phone.

Preferred Qualifications

• BCOP Certification or willingness to obtain certification when eligible.
• Specialty pharmacy experience.
• Oncology pharmacy experience.
• Working knowledge of sterile compounding techniques and quality assurance practices.
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
