Job Description

Laboratory Technician Pay: $18.90/hour, with the opportunity for higher pay based on experience Schedule: • Monday-Friday: 5:00 AM-1:00 PM • Overtime on Saturdays as needed • Sunday overnight shift: 10:00 PM-6:30 AM Position Summary The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing microbiological testing on samples of incoming ingredients, in-process components, finished goods, and raw materials. This position accurately reads, records, and reports test results while supporting daily microbiology operations and maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities. Responsibilities • Perform microbiological tests using specific media and procedures in accordance with USDA, FDA, state, federal, and company regulations. • Assist with daily swab schedules and required paperwork. • Record test results daily and report any out-of-specification results to the Lead or Supervisor. • Perform media preparation and sterilization. • Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements. • Log incoming samples and enter results into spreadsheets and company systems. • Maintain a clean work area and ensure sterile testing conditions within the laboratory. • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies. • Assist with pre-operational startup and verification. • Release raw materials and microbiological holds when acceptable results are received or as directed by supervision. • Prepare temperature-sensitive products for shipment to third-party laboratories as specified by customers. • Operate standard laboratory equipment and follow established testing procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Post-secondary education in science, microbiology, biology, or a related field preferred. • 1-2 years of related laboratory or microbiology experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Previous laboratory or microbiology experience preferred. • HACCP certification preferred. • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate basic technical documents. 1 • Ability to learn and operate standard laboratory equipment. • Basic computer and data-entry skills. • Basic math skills. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain sterile testing conditions. Work Schedule & Availability This position is primarily scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Overtime may be required on Saturdays based on business needs. The position may also require a Sunday overnight shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The position may require extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing environment and requires adherence to company safety, quality, sanitation, and laboratory procedures.
