Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) – Environmental RemediationThis role involves operating heavy equipment on a commercial and environmental remediation project in Jacksonville, Florida. You will perform excavation, earthwork, grading, and related tasks using excavators, dozers, loaders, and other equipment on civil and environmental construction sites. The position requires strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work long days in hot outdoor conditions.ResponsibilitiesOperate excavators with a high level of proficiency to support excavation, trenching, and environmental remediation activities.Operate bulldozers, dozers, loaders, backhoes, trackhoes, and front-end loaders on commercial construction, civil, and earthworks projects.Perform fine grading and earthworks using GPS and grading equipment to meet project specifications and tolerances.Support civil site and civil construction activities, including excavation, trenching, and site preparation for environmental and earthwork projects.Follow environmental remediation procedures and field practices to ensure safe and compliant handling of soils and materials.Clean and maintain various heavy equipment components, including bulldozers, rollers, trackhoes, and other machinery, to ensure safe and efficient operation.Read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions, work plans, and site-specific procedures.Maintain constant focus and situational awareness while operating heavy equipment to protect people, property, and the environment.Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment up to 50 pounds repeatedly as part of daily tasks.Work Monday through Friday on 10-hour shifts and be available for on-call work when needed to meet project demands.Adhere to all safety requirements, including OSHA and Hazwoper standards, and participate in ongoing safety practices on site.Essential SkillsAt least 5 years of experience operating an excavator on commercial construction, civil, or earthworks sites.Additional hands-on experience operating bulldozers, dozers, loaders, backhoes, trackhoes, and front-end loaders.Experience working on civil site, civil construction, and earthworks projects, including excavation, trenching, and fine grading.Proficiency with GPS-guided grading and earthwork operations.Experience in environmental remediation or environmental field work on construction or remediation sites.Ability to work safely and effectively on commercial and environmental construction job sites in hot outdoor conditions.Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds repeatedly.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.Ability to remain 100 percent focused while performing job requirements, especially when operating heavy equipment.Valid Florida driver's license.Availability to work on call when needed.Additional Skills & QualificationsOSHA 10 certification.40-hour Hazwoper certification.Experience cleaning and maintaining heavy equipment components, such as bulldozers, rollers, and trackhoes.Prior experience on environmental construction or remediation projects in hot climates.Strong safety mindset and familiarity with construction and environmental safety practices.Why Work Here?You will join a safety-focused team working on impactful environmental and civil projects, with access to structured benefits and the opportunity to earn consistent overtime through 10-hour workdays. You will regularly work around excavators, bulldozers, dozers, loaders, backhoes, trackhoes, rollers, and other heavy machinery, following established safety procedures and site rules while wearing appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a construction and environmental field setting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
