Sr. Product Designer - Map Viewer

OverviewCome join our UX/UI team where you will craft and validate designs for ArcGIS Map Viewer while helping shape front-end capabilities that support future Map Viewer experiences. These web-based tools allow users to create interactive maps, run spatial analysis, and uncover insights from location-based data. Whether someone is mapping traffic trends, climate risk, or election outcomes, Map Viewer is often their first touchpoint with Esri’s software. In this role you’ll collaborate closely with other designers and product development to help organizations connect people, locations, and data using interactive maps that drive positive change in the world.ResponsibilitiesWork with developers, product managers, and other cross-functional team members to design end-to-end mapping experiences using participatory and iterative design techniquesCoordinate with stakeholders to identify requirements and specifications for the development of new and established featuresDevelop personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, visual design and prototypesCollaborate with SDK and engineering partners to shape front-end capabilities, including SDK-level enhancements that support future Map Viewer experiences.Identify enhancements to product designs by conducting user research (usability testing, surveys, customer interviews, and more) with prototypes and fully developed projects for the Map ViewerWork with leadership and stakeholders to suggest and implement improvements for team processesDevelop and present technical holistic design solutions that address business, brand, and user requirements in the form of wireframes and prototypes Be a design leader, ensuring that others understand the value and effectiveness of user-centered design by staying up to date on product design technologies and trendsConduct peer reviews, gather usability feedback, and quality assess implementations of your designs and the designs of othersEffectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale, and the specifics of user centered design process to developers, engineers, product managers and other cross-functional team membersRequirements5+ years of experience with product design for enterprise SAAS, web-based applications, or similar experienceExperience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworksKnowledge of or experience in localization or internationalizationExperience with accessibility (WCAG 2.0/Section 508 Compliance) and a strong track record of collaborating with developers to address and resolve accessibility-related challengesDemonstrated self-ownership and initiative in exceeding responsibilities to drive impactful outcomes for the product and teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsEmbrace a collaborative, data-driven approach with empathy, fostering effective teamwork through a focus on shared goals and mutual respectAn online portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities, how you think, interaction design, and a strong understanding of client objectives across multiple shipped features and productsBachelor's degree in human factors, HCI, graphic design, or related fieldRecommended QualificationsMaster's degree in human factors, HCI, graphic design, or related fieldExperience conducting user research and usability testing across various methods (such as moderated sessions, A/B testing, surveys)Ability to lead design critiques, communicate rationale effectively, and mentor junior designers through constructive feedbackStrong grasp of geospatial applications or map-based UI design (bonus if with tools like ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms)#LI-DK1#LI-OnsiteTotal RewardsEsri’s competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
