Financial Analyst 3 The position provides administrative and financial support in compliance with federal, state, and campus guidelines for CNAS Dean’s Office and departments. It includes ledger reconciliation, complex ad‑hoc analysis and reporting, payroll reviews and audit, staffing management, and the preparation of financial statements and related financial transactions. Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Experience Requirements 4 – 7 years of related experience. Sensitive information includes, but is not limited to, employee and student records, health and patient records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information, and any other sensitive or non‑public information obtained during employment. Information should be shared only with individuals who have a legitimate business need to know and must be properly safeguarded in accordance with organizational policies and privacy laws. Unauthorized or improper disclosure of confidential work‑related information is a violation of these expectations. Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems. Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi‑task in a high‑volume environment; organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form. Ability to function effectively as a member of a team. Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reporting. Ability to independently gather required information, organize it, and perform financial analysis assignments. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Thorough knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting university resources. General Information Job Title: FINANCIAL ANL 3 CX | Job Code: 005183 | Grade: 153 | Department Head: Yung Phung | Supervisor: Leonard Pavlov Department Custom Scope This is a hybrid position with two days in the office and three days remote, but it can become fully in‑person at any time. The incumbent is expected to work in‑person during probation. Key Responsibilities Gathers information, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial and/or resource plans, including annual resource allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, sources and uses, staff/faculty salary budgets, etc. Generates, modifies, and conceives new financial reports such as budgets, contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, or user fees among others. Independently provides administrative & financial support to the CNAS Dean’s Office and departments. ( 35% ) Applies professional concepts to perform moderate to complex analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations. Independently reviews, reconciles & makes recommendations regarding allocations for all funds/resources & ensures all transactions comply with campus, Federal & State guidelines. Utilizes expert analytical skills to vet results, improve methodologies used and make recommendations regarding alternate approaches. ( 15% ) Provides analytical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis projects, including sales and services. Independently analyzes complex budget & financial data from multiple sources, provides data for management review, and makes recommendations based on findings and manages ongoing college analysis projects. ( 10% ) May train staff and where appropriate, creates an effective team environment. Provides departments with training and information on university & external agencies regulations and requirements. ( 5% ) Performs complex financial or resource research and studies for a variety of internal department constituents. ( 5% ) Ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained and strengthened to protect university resources. Advises faculty & staff regarding campus policy & procedures. ( 5% ) Independently gathers information as needed to perform analysis. ( 5% ) Provides department support in the areas of business process analysis and design, system or procedure testing and implementation, documentation, security, workflow, and customer feedback. ( 5% ) Documents procedures for financial activities. ( 5% ) Prepares reviews and/or approves financial transactions. Provides financial support for ledger reconciliation, balancing staffing, payroll audits, preparation of financial statements and related transactions such as manual payroll transfers, non‑payroll transfers, financial transactions, COA changes, and others as needed. ( 5% ) Coordinates and implements department budget allocations, conceives of and maintains department chart of accounts or other data management tools, and related business processes.
