Food Safety and Quality Manager (Dairy Manufacturing)Toft Dairy 3717 Venice Road, Sandusky, OH 44870 Schedule Full Time: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing all food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs within the facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and supporting plant operations through strong leadership, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.Operational Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and maintain the Food Safety Plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality documentation Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, including proper documentation and recordkeeping Coordinate and lead internal and third-party food safety and quality audits and report results to plant managementPartner with plant leadership to assign audit responsibilities and serve as the primary contact during external auditsLead employee food safety, quality, and compliance training programsDevelop and implement workplace health and safety initiativesManage and investigate customer complaints, including corrective actions and report issue to plant managementPerform microbiological testing (e.g., aerobic plate counts, coliforms) Conduct allergen residue testing and verificationReceive and test raw milk samples for antibiotics (upon ODA certification)Collect environmental and equipment samples for testingInspect processing areas and equipment for sanitation and complianceMaintain accurate laboratory records and testing dataPerform lab equipment calibration and verification activitiesEnforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) across the facility Manage nonconforming products and complete root cause investigationsMaintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratoryOrder and manage laboratory supplies and materialsFollow all company safety policies and proceduresCollaborate with Toft's Farm Surveyor to monitor and address problems for raw milk producers (raw milk quality, farm cleanliness, etc)Partner with plant leadership to reinforce food safety culture, documentation discipline, quality awareness and compliance accountabilityAssist with additional duties as assignedPhysical and Work Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the facility for extended periodsAbility to climb stairs and ladders as neededAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Work in wet environments and occasionally in cooler and freezer conditionsExposure to food allergens including milk, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, wheat (gluten), and soyOccasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizersAbility to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as neededAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced production environmentQualifications:Bachelor 's degree required (Food Science, Dairy Manufacturing, or related field preferred)Experience in food manufacturing or related industry highly preferredHACCP and/or GFSI certification(s) or experience strongly preferredPCQI certification highly desiredStrong understanding of food safety regulations and quality systemsProficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new systems quicklyStrong communication skills across all levels of the organizationSolid math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide using various units of measure)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentMust pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background, and criminal checksCompensation & Benefits:Competitive full-time pay with consistent hoursOvertime opportunities availableMedical insurance with prescription coverageSupplemental benefits including dental, vision, and life insurancePaid vacation, sick time, and holidays401(k) with company matchAbout Toft Dairy:For over 125 years, Toft Dairy has proudly served customers within an approximately 150-mile radius of our Sandusky plant.
