Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Position: Cardiac stepdown travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Contract Type: Travel nursing contract
• Contract Duration: Approximately 15 weeks
• Location: Hilo, Hawaii
• Start Date: December 14, 2026
• End Date: March 29, 2027
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, typically three shifts, following the first week of orientation; hours are not guaranteed
• Openings: 2
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation is provided. Candidates must arrive on the Thursday before the start date for a required employee health appointment on Friday.
• Documentation: Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs are required.

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Hawaii by the start of the assignment
• At least 2 years of recent professional nursing experience, preferably in cardiac stepdown, medical-surgical nursing, or acute care settings
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Ability to complete required health screening and provide documented immunity as applicable
• Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Procedural Sedation, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
• Comfort using Meditech electronic medical records and Pyxis medication-dispensing systems
• Flexibility to float between medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units based on patient-care needs

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a cardiac stepdown and medical-surgical environment.
• Monitor cardiac and clinical status, recognize changes in condition, and communicate concerns promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following established clinical protocols.
• Care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including those requiring chest tubes and wound vacs.
• Use Meditech and Pyxis systems accurately to support clinical documentation, medication management, and continuity of care.
• Float to medical, surgical acute-care, and cardiovascular units as assigned.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and fellow nurses to coordinate individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, recovery, and discharge needs.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional clinical environment while adapting to changing patient-care priorities.
