Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Transcriptionist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for converting audio recordings from healthcare professionals into accurate written reports, ensuring that all documentation meets industry standards for clarity, accuracy, and confidentiality. This position plays a critical role in maintaining precise patient records and supporting efficient healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe audio recordings from physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers into clear, accurate, and properly formatted medical documents.
- Review and edit transcriptions for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Ensure correct usage of medical terminology, abbreviations, and procedures.
- Verify patient information and maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with healthcare privacy regulations.
- Identify discrepancies or unclear dictation and seek clarification when necessary.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting turnaround time requirements.
- Utilize transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, procedures, and transcription best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical transcription or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a medical transcriptionist or in a similar role is an advantage, but entry-level candidates with strong skills are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent listening, typing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency with transcription tools, word processing software, and EHR systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Work Environment:
This position may be remote or office-based, depending on company needs. Candidates should have a quiet workspace, reliable internet connection, and the ability to handle sensitive information securely. Flexible scheduling may be available, though adherence to deadlines is essential.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $13–$15 per hour , based on experience and qualifications.
- After 6 months: $15–$18 per hour , based on performance and demonstrated proficiency.
