Industrial Electrician

MOS Codes: 12R (Army), 5699 (Navy), 15L (Army), 2A616 (Air Force) Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED or higher; two (2) years of journey-level electrician experience, including at least one (1) year in commercial or industrial electrical maintenance. Licenses & Certificates Texas Class "C" Driver’s License or equivalent. Some positions may require a Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent. Journeyman Electrician’s License required at time of application. General Purpose Under general supervision, perform a variety of highly skilled maintenance electrician tasks involving high voltages. Typical Duties Perform terminal and electrical service, equipment and system repair, maintenance, testing, and installation tasks for a variety of facilities. Respond to scheduled or emergency situations. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair or replace wiring circuits for lights, wind socks, guidance signs, lighting controls, and other high‑voltage systems, including 460‑volt switchgear, computerized motor controls, programmable controllers. Repair or replace electrical systems for conveyor belts, lighting circuits, escalators, HVAC systems, street illumination devices, pumps used in water treatment plants, and storm‑water pumps. Identify and acquire parts required for replacement and maintenance in accordance with procurement procedures. Inspect electrical equipment and systems, provide preventive maintenance services, and test and validate results. Operate standard or specialized vehicles and equipment to perform duties. Maintain and update files, records, reports, and logs, observing standard operating procedures and safety practices. Installation Install electrical conduit, wire systems, motor components, and related electrical devices. Research, identify costs, parts, supplies, equipment, and materials. Gather materials and supplies, and wire, connect, test to maintain new services or systems. Coordinate electrical service needs and schedules with other trades, vendors, contractors, and departments. Install, remove, construct, refurbish and perform other tasks associated with the work or area assignment. Supervision Assign, schedule, guide and monitor the work of subordinate electricians. Appraise employee performance, train new employees, and enforce personnel rules and regulations impartially. Approve overtime, leave requests and track attendance. Related Duties Perform duties of coworkers and subordinates to maintain continuity during absences. Coordinate system upgrades with contractors and users to minimize disruption. Respond to emergency calls for service.
