Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and a GA or compact RN license, working 4x9.5-hour day shifts every other weekend.

• Hospital-based PACU setting
• Diverse surgical patient population including general surgery (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection), orthopedics (total joints, fracture repair), urology (cystoscopy, TURP, TURBT, ablation, robotic), spine (ACDF, PLIF), neurosurgery (tumor, CVA/TIA), vascular (TAVR, FEVAR, amputation, stents), endoscopy (ERCP), and plastics (mastectomy, corrective surgery)
• Day shift schedule: 4x9.5-hour shifts (9:00–18:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of PACU nursing experience required
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off for approval
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted shift is firm
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time
