" Job Description Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA Work Schedule: Thursday to Monday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM Department: Support Testing Pay Range: $22.48 – $28.94 per hour Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Labels, handles, processes, and transports or stores specimens. Identifies sample problems and assists in resolving them, demonstrating problem‑solving ability on service and production issues. Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventive maintenance, notifying technical staff of equipment problems. Assists licensed personnel or delegated supervisor with pre‑analytic and post‑analytic testing activities. Prepares pre‑analytical reagents and controls using automated or fixed‑volume measuring devices; submits documentation for approval. Maintains accurate records of reagents or media using established procedures, formulas, stock solutions, and measuring devices. Maintains inventory of consumable items and performs restocking; performs inventory of laboratory items. Accessioning incoming specimens into the LIS and delivering to the designated testing platform/department. Performs data entry or transcribes data for data reduction and review by licensed personnel. Tallies workload data and prepares reports as requested. Assists in the performance of quality control procedures. Prepares protocols, logs, or other appropriate documents. Assists a licensed person with validation verifications and other R&D activities, as applicable. Trains other Lab Associates and supports training programs when applicable. Suggests improvements to efficiency and productivity; provides consistent feedback; acts as a resource for process improvement. Demonstrates leadership through accountability and collaboration in daily activities. Answers phones, transfers calls, or takes accurate messages while maintaining confidentiality of client information. Ensures laboratory areas are neat, clean, and organized. Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices; required to use personal protective equipment. Other duties as assigned. This list is not exhaustive. Qualifications Required Experience 1 year of histopathology, cytology, or other laboratory experience. 1 year of experience handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and other patient information using a Laboratory Information System (LIS). Preferred Experience 2–3 years of laboratory experience preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements Frequent lifting of 1–10 pounds, occasional lifting of 11–25 pounds, and rare lifting of 26–50 pounds; objects >50 pounds must be assisted. Repetitive tasks with dominant hand. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods. Good eye and hand coordination. Knowledge Working knowledge of reagent stability and storage. Awareness of factors that influence test results. Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong typing skills desirable. Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with management, colleagues, and clients. Automation skills helpful. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science or Chemistry (preferred); other life science degree coursework considered. High School Diploma or Equivalent (required) with a minimum of 2–3 years of laboratory experience.
