Event Chef

MileHighCook is a private chef and event catering company working across 30 markets in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Wyoming. We are hiring event chefs in all of them.

The work is private dinners in homes, ranches and vacation rentals. Anniversary dinners, small weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions. Usually 6 to 30 guests. You cook in the client's kitchen, plate, serve, and leave it cleaner than you found it.

This is not a restaurant job and it does not pretend to be one. There is no line, no double, and no schedule handed to you. We send you the event, you take it or you pass, and the ones you take are yours to run.

What a typical event looks like

• The menu is set with the client weeks ahead, so you walk in knowing exactly what you are cooking
• Groceries are covered, either shopped ahead for you or reimbursed
• Most events run 5 to 8 hours door to door, mostly evenings and weekends
• You are either solo or working with one server we staff alongside you
• Guests are usually in the room, so the cooking is half of it and being easy to talk to is the other half

Pay

• Up to $650 per event in our resort markets, $500 in the metros, $400 in outlying markets
• Flat rate per event, not hourly
• You keep 100 percent of the tip
• Paid within 5 business days of your event
• Groceries are the only reimbursed expense

Who we hire

• 3 or more years in professional kitchens, or private chef experience
• Comfortable running an event off-site without a brigade behind you
• Your own knives and reliable transportation to client addresses
• Food handler card or ServSafe, or willing to get one
• Clean, organized, and calm when the plan changes at the door

How hiring works

2. A short set of recorded video questions on your own time
3. A live video call with Steve, the owner
4. Contractor agreement, then you go on the roster and start getting event offers

We answer everyone either way. This is 1099 independent contractor work booked event by event, so you keep whatever else you are doing.
