Lead Software Engineer - Python/Data - Jersey City

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, or Scala
• Good understanding of AWS core services, architecture best practices, and security features
• Extensive experience with big data technologies, including Apache Spark, for large-scale processing and analytics
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong knowledge of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to coach engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• In-depth knowledge of financial services and related IT systems
• Practical cloud-native experience
• Preferred: exposure to Databricks
• Preferred: experience with data visualization and business intelligence platforms
• Preferred: bachelors degree in Finance, Technology, Data Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred

• Create and deliver software solutions, designs, and technical troubleshooting approaches, applying creative thinking to build solutions and break down complex technical problems
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of effective patterns
• Use Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate fixes for recurring issues and improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and suitability for existing systems and information architecture
