Job Summary and Qualifications As a Lead Surgical Technologist, you’ll take on a vital leadership role in the OR, guiding your team and ensuring patients receive the safest, most advanced surgical care. Your responsibilities will include: Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for every procedure Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists, serving as a role model while training new team members and reinforcing best practices Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on‑call and emergency cases What qualifications you will need: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST) Preferred Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience working as a scrub tech Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Minimum of one year of surgery experience preferred Skilled in all surgical service lines: General, Robotics, Ortho, Neuro, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and ENT Benefits HCA Florida Mercy Hospital offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
