Pharmacist In Charge (Pic) For Long-Term Care Mail Order Pharmacy

A multi-licensed Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) is needed to oversee daily operations at a closed-door mail order pharmacy specializing in long-term care (LTC). This part-time opportunity offers ongoing work 16-24 hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with potential to add a third day. The shift runs from 7 AM to 3 PM in a stable environment supported by a strong team of six technicians and multiple pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations specific to LTC pharmacy.
• Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient workflow and accuracy in medication dispensing.
• Review, verify, and approve prescriptions and medication orders to ensure safe and effective therapy for LTC patients.
• Maintain quality assurance, controlled substance compliance, and consistent implementation of policies and documentation.
• Collaborate with facility staff, healthcare providers, and nursing teams to optimize patient care and timely medication delivery.
• Assist with sterile compounding and clean room activities if experienced and comfortable in this environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Maryland pharmacist license plus licensure in the majority of the following states: AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
• At least 2 years of pharmacy management experience.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy settings.
• Sterile compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Proven ability to start promptly.

Location:

• Position located in the Hyattsville, MD area with work performed at a Gaithersburg-based mail order pharmacy.
