Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider

Job Description​The employee will be responsible for the medical management of the Neurosurgery patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider. The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas). The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role.Neurosurgery disease processes the APP will be expected to accurately diagnose and treat include general neurosurgery with a focus subspecialized patient populations as indicated.Skills required of this role will include but may not be limited to the following:utilizes prescriptive authority in accordance with state and federal laws and regulationsobtains and documents relevant problem focused or comprehensive history from patient/medical records in a timely mannercommunicates effectively using appropriate terminology, format, and technology in accordance health system policiesanalyzes data to determine health statuscommunicates effectively with other healthcare professionalsperforms an accurate physical examdemonstrates basic science and up to date clinical knowledgeestablishes a patient relationship characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaborationtakes initiative for seeking opportunities to advance knowledge and experiencesflexibility with scheduled rotations/locations as needed to ensure patient needs are metRole duties may include but are not limited to:Completion of admissions, consultations, subsequent day visits and discharges in the inpatient setting.Independent practice in the outpatient clinic and/or inpatient setting and collaborating with physician(s) as appropriate.Ordering and management of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.This role may require training and competency for procedures applicable to the department of hire.This role will include an expectation of participation in the operating room in a first assist role.Job RequirementsApplicable Experience:Less than 1 yearAdvanced Practice Provider Cert(MO/KS) - Various, Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red CrossMaster's DegreeJob DetailsFull TimeDay (United States of America)SummaryLocation: Saint Luke's Hospital | 4401 Wornall Rd | Kansas City | MOType: Full time
