Rotating 8:00am - 1630 weekdays and 3am - 1130 weekends (every 3rd weekend). Position Summary: Under general supervision, the Phlebotomist Sr. assists the Manager Phlebotomy-Customer Service in a multitude of ways, including coordinating the day-to-day workflow in the Specimen Collection area while performing the duties of a Phlebotomist II. This includes preparing work schedules, directing staff assignments, obtaining blood specimens, and resolving customer service complaints. Job Responsibilities Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs Coordinates and organizes the day-to-day workflow in the Specimen Center: schedules employees; make work assignments and resolves day-to-day logistical problems to ensure specimens are collected in an orderly and timely fashion Works closely with the manager in investigating and resolving more complex problems with patients, hospital staff, physicians or the department team to ensure improvements in processes and a high level of customer satisfaction Orders lab tests and admits patients to computer system, determining which form to use based on type of insurance to ensure that the correct test is performed and charged Performs customer service duties, including information dissemination to ensure that correct test is ordered and collected in the appropriate manner Assists the manager in maintaining and ordering an adequate inventory of necessary supplies to ensure continued availability of needed supplies Utilizes the laboratory information system to print labels, process specimens, track specimens, enter data, inquire about results and print reports to provide efficient specimen processing Assists the manager in orienting, training and measuring the competency of employees to ensure development and maintenance of a competent workforce Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist II to facilitate efficient operation Participates in the improvement of operational functions of the department Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care and practices identifying opportunities for improvement through collaboration Properly handling and processing hazardous chemicals and waste as needed Performs all other duties as assigned Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from the ASCP Board of Certification Preferred Education or Experience Successful completion of the phlebotomy orientation program and completion of all clinical competency requirements Demonstrated ability and experience with the lab information system Required Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated knowledge and competency in adult, pediatric, and neonatal phlebotomy Demonstrated knowledge of specimen requirements for different lab tests Benefits Comprehensive benefits for medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health and telemedicine services Wellbeing support, including free counseling and referral services Time away from work programs for paid time off, paid family leave, long- and short-term disability coverage and leaves of absence Savings and retirement resources, including a 401(k) Plan with a 100% match on 3% to 9% of pay (based on years of service), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, flexible spending accounts, preferred banking partnerships, retirement readiness tools, rollover support and financial wellbeing counseling Education support through tuition assistance, student loan assistance, certification support, dependent scholarships and a partnership with Galen College of Nursing Additional benefits for fertility and family building, adoption assistance, life insurance, supplemental health protection plans, auto and home insurance, legal counseling, identity theft protection and consumer discounts Learn More About Employee Benefits Note: Eligibility for benefits may vary by location.
