Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast is to ensure every child has mentors and champions in life.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE AND INTERFACES

Position Reports To: General Manager or Part-Time Unit Director

Primary Interfaces: Youth, Families, Volunteers, Program Staff, Unit Director, General Manager, Regional General Manager, Operations Team

Hours: 23-25 hours/week

Must be able to accommodate and provide a consistent Monday-Friday schedule unless otherwise approved.

Daily Hours Include: 1:30 PM - 6:00 PM and Wednesdays/Minimum Days 12:30 PM - 6:00 PM

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Manager serves as a key site leader responsible for supporting high-quality program execution, staff coaching, member engagement, volunteer coordination, and day-to-day operational excellence.

Working in partnership with the Unit Director or General Manager, the Program Manager helps ensure a safe, engaging, and well-organized Club environment while supporting staff development and consistent implementation of organizational standards.

The Program Manager spends a significant portion of their time actively supervising programming, coaching staff, observing member engagement, supporting volunteers, and addressing operational needs. This role serves as a visible leader during program hours and helps ensure a positive experience for members, families, staff, and volunteers.

COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
  1. Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
  2. Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
  3. Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
  4. Be trained and understand school district Emergency Response procedures and ensure the consistent execution of Emergency Preparedness protocols across all school sites, including drills and communication practices.

PROGRAM QUALITY & FLOOR LEADERSHIP
  • Spend a meaningful portion of each program day actively supervising programming.
    • Observe staff interactions, member engagement, transitions, and program delivery.
    • Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and support to staff.
    • Model effective youth development practices and positive behavior management strategies.
    • Monitor implementation of organizational program standards.
    • Identify opportunities to improve program quality and member experience.
    • Assist with implementation of quality improvement plans and organizational initiatives.
    • Support consistent execution across all program areas.
STAFF SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff.
    • Reinforce organizational expectations, policies, and procedures.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to program staff.
    • Share observations and recommendations with the Unit Director or General Manager.
    • Support implementation of staff development plans and performance goals.
    • Lead by example and model professionalism, accountability, and positive culture.
    • Assist with staff coverage and program support as needed.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and support volunteers.
    • Ensure volunteers complete all required screening and onboarding requirements.
    • Coordinate volunteer assignments and schedules.
    • Track volunteer hours and impact metrics.
    • Cultivate positive volunteer relationships.
    • Support volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts.
    • Ensure volunteers are appropriately integrated into Club operations.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians.
    • Serve as a visible and approachable leader during program hours.
    • Support communication efforts with families.
    • Address family concerns professionally and promptly.
    • Partner with families to support positive youth outcomes.
    • Help create a welcoming and inclusive Club environment.
OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Ensure assigned reports, attendance records, and operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
    • Monitor daily attendance and member participation trends.
    • Support staffing, scheduling, and operational processes.
    • Ensure facility and operational checklists are completed consistently.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
    • Escalate concerns and operational challenges appropriately.
    • Support implementation of organizational systems and procedures.
MEMBERSHIP & MEMBER EXPERIENCE
  • Support membership recruitment and retention efforts.
    • Monitor attendance trends and communicate concerns to leadership.
    • Help create a positive, engaging, and welcoming member experience.
    • Support implementation of member engagement strategies.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 48 college units required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    • Minimum one year of experience working with youth.
    • Previous leadership, supervisory, or coaching experience preferred.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Proficiency in Office 365 and organizational systems.
    • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Must report suspected child abuse in accordance with California law.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or facilitated upon hire.
    • Valid TB clearance in accordance with organizational requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. Employees must possess the dexterity, coordination, vision, and hearing necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.
