Patent Counsel

Patent Counsel position supporting pharmaceutical R&D across discovery through commercialization. Develops patenting strategies, drafts and prosecutes patent applications for novel chemical and biological inventions, and advises on intellectual property matters for biopharmaceutical products.
Responsibilities
- Develop patenting strategies and build intellectual property portfolios with internal R&D teams
- Draft and prosecute patent applications globally for products, candidates, and platform technologies
- Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and patent prosecution support for R&D activities
- Support litigation-related proceedings including oppositions for assigned programs
- Conduct IP due diligence for business development activities including collaborations and acquisitions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biological, pharmaceutical, or chemical sciences
- Juris Doctor from accredited US law school
- USPTO patent bar registration and state bar membership in good standing
- 5+ years patent attorney experience in law firm or corporate setting drafting pharmaceutical/biological patent applications
- Strong technical background in chemical or biological sciences
- Advanced degree in biological or chemical sciences (preferred)
- Experience counseling clients on intellectual property issues (preferred)
Compensation: $210,400–$331,100 base
