Diagnoses, treats, and prescribes certain medications for illnesses and injuries. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct patient care, assessments, counseling, preparation, and treatment. Documents patient care. Prescribes medicines upon diagnoses of illness or injury, under the direction of a physician and within the limitations of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant regulations. Maintains and monitors patient records, assesses health care needs, and provides patient education. Interprets labs. Performs follow-up care in conjunction with other nursing staff. Acts as a health resource to the campus community. Assists in planning and promoting health outreach activities. Provides health education to university organizations as needed. Assesses real and/or potential health hazards related to current health status, including analysis or risky behaviors that contribute to a student’s health status. This position will report medically to the medical director and non-medically to the clinic director. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in nursing or in PA studies or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of related experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP), licensed Registered Nurse (RN), and CPR certified. Must be licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Physical Requirements: None Other Requirements: None PREFERRED EDUCATION/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of family practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner/PA. Experience managing technology resources related to learning management systems, including evaluating its effectiveness for end users and planning for future improvements. SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: NA CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE COMPETENCY: Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
