Onsite Cost Analyst
An Onsite Cost Analyst is needed for a large facility project located in Cheshire, Ohio. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and cost control of a large-scale civil construction project. This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling all project costs directly at the job site, while ensuring accurate vendor invoice processing, customer billing, and budget compliance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Working closely with project leadership, field supervision, and accounting, the Cost Analyst provides timely financial insight to support informed decision-making and proactive cost management.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Tracking & Reporting
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports, including budgets, commitments, change orders, actual costs, and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain accurate Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) projections.
- Review, track, and process vendor invoices.
- Prepare and submit customer billings in accordance with contract requirements.
Budget Management
- Assist with cost code setup, expense allocation, and budget tracking.
- Reconcile project cost data with accounting records to ensure financial accuracy.
Contract Administration
- Review contractor pay applications, invoices, and change orders for accuracy, compliance, and contract alignment.
- Ensure all financial documentation supports contractual obligations and approvals.
Forecasting & Analysis
- Analyze cost variances and trends.
- Assess client utilization and labor productivity.
- Identify potential cost impacts and proactively communicate risks to project leadership.
Change Order Management
- Maintain a detailed change order log, tracking scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
- Support documentation and approval processes for change requests.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Estimators, and Accounting teams to resolve cost issues and provide financial insights.
- Serve as a reliable onsite financial resource for project leadership.
Process Improvement
- Recommend and implement cost control procedures to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance financial transparency.
This is a direct-hire, full-time position, hiring immediately. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pay is starting at $30 per hour. Healthcare, dental, and vision benefits are available.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction cost control, project accounting, estimating, or financial analysis.
- Experience working with union craft labor and civil/industrial construction projects is highly desirable.
Skills & Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and job cost systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with construction management or accounting software is a plus.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with construction processes, contract terms, and cost control best practices.
- Working knowledge of project controls in an active construction environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work onsite at an active construction project.
- Must be able to navigate stairs, uneven terrain, and jobsite conditions safely.
$12 per hour
