Clinical Registrar

Overview Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager of Trauma Services, the Trauma Registrar performs a variety of duties essential to maintaining the Trauma Registry as mandated by the Department of Health. Responsibilities include coordinating the daily operations of the Trauma Registry by coding and abstracting clinical and demographic data from patient records. The registrar works independently and with the team, and assumes accountability for all work performed. Required Qualifications Coursework or training in medical terminology. Coursework or training in human anatomy. Knowledge of medical terminology. One year of experience in a healthcare or related setting. One year of medical record abstracting and/or coding. One year in a medical registry or two or more years in a healthcare‑related field. One year in injury severity coding and reimbursement coding. Preferred Qualifications Coursework or training in medical coding. Certification as a Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) upon hire.
