Inventory Control Specialist

This role focuses on accurately managing inventory within a high-volume, climate-controlled distribution center. You will follow established procedures to issue parts for work-in-process orders, support material usage for production, and prepare products for shipment to customers. The position requires careful attention to detail, efficient material handling, and effective use of RF scanning and inventory systems to minimize production downtime and control costs.

Responsibilities

• Follow strict, established procedures for issuing parts from inventory for work-in-process orders and material usage.
• Pick materials accurately for production and shipping orders, ensuring correct quantities and item identification.
• Identify material shortages that may affect production schedules and communicate issues promptly to support on-time manufacturing.
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies to help eliminate extra costs and minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Recognize various types of material receipts at the dock, sort them by type, and deliver them to the appropriate locations within the facility.
• Perform order picking, packing, and order pulling using RF scanners and inventory control processes.
• Execute inventory transactions accurately within the inventory or ERP system, as applicable.
• Handle, move, and lift materials safely, including items weighing up to 50 lbs, following proper material handling practices.
• Work in a high-volume or automated distribution center environment, managing a large number of order lines per day.
• Use RF scanning equipment to track inventory movements and maintain accurate stock records.
• Support shipping activities, including preparing products for shipment via carriers such as UPS.
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all warehouse procedures to maintain quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with team members and remain flexible, assisting in any department that needs support on a given day.
• Maintain an organized, clean work area and contribute to an efficient, well-structured warehouse operation.

Essential Skills

• Experience in a high-volume distribution center environment, such as handling approximately 3,000 order lines per day, or experience in an automated distribution center.
• Hands-on experience with inventory control, including inventory transactions and reconciliation.
• Proficiency using RF scanners for inventory tracking, picking, and order processing.
• Ability to perform order picking, packing, and order pulling in a warehouse setting.
• Basic computer skills, with familiarity in working with inventory or warehouse systems; ERP system experience is preferred.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as needed.
• Comfort working with shipping processes and carriers, including tasks related to UPS shipments.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and documentation.
• Ability to work the assigned shift of Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting and support multiple departments as needed.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with high order volume and tight production schedules.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled warehouse and distribution center that operates with organized processes and strong team orientation. You will work Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., supporting a high-volume or automated distribution operation. The facility uses RF scanners, ERP or similar inventory systems, and standard warehouse equipment for material handling. The culture emphasizes flexibility, and you may be asked to assist in various departments depending on daily needs. The environment follows Good Manufacturing Practices, maintains a neat and orderly workspace, and supports safe lifting and material handling procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of The Colony, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
