Description:
The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
The Clinical Nurse participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
They attend education programs based on identified learning needs.
The Clinical Nurse uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
They assess the readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers.
The Clinical Nurse evaluates the developmental level of the patient and factors affecting their ability to learn.
They identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revising the plan of care.
The Clinical Nurse participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members in the evaluation of patient care.
They communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
The Clinical Nurse demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
They perform bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan.
The Clinical Nurse utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.
They organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
The Clinical Nurse consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and those at high risk for discharge planning.
They develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance.
The Clinical Nurse achieves goals and objectives within the identified time frame or renegotiates with the supervisor.
They are knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
The Clinical Nurse participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
They effectively use communication systems and participate in promoting cost-effective care.
