Radiology Technologist Opportunities - DePaul Hospital

Job Summary Takes x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and provides support for the imaging department. This position only performs plain films and fluoro. Responsibilities Explains procedures to patient to ensure understanding and provides appropriate educational material. Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures. Assists technologists with preparing patient for radiology exam by positioning the patient for the procedure. Assists technologists with filing, delivering and retrieving patient reports and charts, matching films to folders, and delivery of reports to patient units and physicians. Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines and prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted. Ensures prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history). Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel; lock/tag out equipment if appropriate. Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other departmental areas. May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Completion of a Radiology Technology program within 6 months of hire date. ARRT‑R Radiography credential. Willingness to cross‑train in CT, MRI, and Cath Lab. State licensure or certification as required for Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin. No prior experience required. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision, hearing, and speech. Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 25–50 lbs. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements. Professional Licenses/Certifications State of Illinois: Basic Life Support (BLS HCP – AHA); Radiologic Technologists – IEMA or Temporary Accreditation – IEMA; ARRT‑R Radiography. State of Missouri and Oklahoma: Basic Life Support (BLS HCP – AHA); ARRT‑R Radiography. State of Wisconsin: Basic Life Support (BLS HCP – AHA); Radiographer licensed by Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services; ARRT‑R Radiography. Benefits Sign‑on bonus up to $10,000.
