Drivers license required with submission Submission Requirements: Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years Individual unit requirements listed in pulse apply. Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 email We are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens up ANY LICENSE HITS NEED TO BE DISCLOSED AT TIME OF SUBMISSION. Tele - 2 South - 2F/Stepdown - at this time we are only telemetry, so any reference for stepdown is not applicable for the moment. We have not been given a return date for Stepdown. # Beds & Unit Specific Info - 2nd Floor has 20-Beds - all private rooms Unit Specific Info: Beds - 20 beds, all private rooms Nurse:Patient ratio: 1:5 for telemetry patients 1:3-4 for stepdown patients Average number of patients seen/admitted; cases per day: - Very variable, anywhere from 1-2 discharges and admissions to 10 Common Diagnoses/Patient Types: Very variable - telemetry, post catheterization, medical/surgical with telemetry monitoring needs, respiratory difficulty Required Certifications/Experience: - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - required - Required Travel experience, at least 1+ year of travel - Charge and/or Precepting experience required, but be willing to work either Preferred Certifications/Experience - Prefer fluent with EPIC Point of Care Testing (POCT): Blood sugar using AccuChek glucometer. The managers, Michelle or Rebecca can do competency and send completed competency for access. Staff badge and patient arm band used for barcode scanning. Charge Nurse/Lead: There is a designated charge nurse. With full staffing the charge nurse is out of staffing to support the unit. Aides: We staff 2 PCTs for 20 beds. PCT responsibilities include ambulating patients, FSBS, VS, bathing, I&O documentation, feeding and turning. Shared Q2 hour rounding with nurses. Cardiac Monitoring: We have 10 rooms with hardwired monitors, the rest of the rooms are portable tele monitor capable. Monitor techs are located on the 6th floor and monitor throughout the hospital. They call the assigned nurse for any issues they notice on the monitor. Nurses are expected to have understanding and comfort with basic dysrhythmia and verify the tele strip interpretation. Pharmacy: There is a unit based pharmacist 7a-3p 5 days a week. There is coverage in the main pharmacy 24/7. Nurses do reconstitute antibiotics. Telemetry patients may have titrating heparin. Stepdown patients may have titrating diltiazem, Pharmacy initiates Omnicell access for medications, and Michelle or Rebecca will give each employee fingerprint access to the Omnicell. Respiratory: RT is present in the building 24/7. It is not outside of the scope of practice to give nebulizers/breathing treatments, but RT is nearly always available. No ventilators are on the unit. We use nearly all other O2 delivery methods. Physician/Provider Coverage: There is at least one covering hospitalist 24/7. Venous Access: Nurses do place IVs. Nurses draw labs only from central lines if there is an order to do so. There are no other IV requirements. Orientation: The first day is a blend of required education modules and shadowing/orienting. The second shift is orientation. The third shift is independent. - The first day the RN should go to the corporate center for a badge and parking pass, then come to the main campus to the 2nd floor to start orientation. Shifts: RNs work 12 hour shifts from 7a - 7:30p or 7p - 7:30a; RNs are hired for day or night shift. They may pick up additional on a shift they do not normally work, but will not be made to work a different shift. We do allow block scheduling depending on the unit needs. We do allow self scheduling for travelers. Oncall: No oncall on this unit Floating: Floating may occur to a comparable unit or lower level unit (telemetry or med/surg). Occasionally staff are pulled to help with ADMITTED boarded patients in the emergency department or floor/tele patients housed in the ICU. Call Off Process: Call offs should be done through the hospital supervisor at , minimally 2 hours prior to the start of the shift. Weekend/holidays: Every other weekend is required. Day shift is Saturday/Sunday and night shift is Friday/Saturday. Every other holiday - Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Dress Code: Nurses provide their own Navy blue scrubs. Additional Information: Travelers may be asked to precept or do charge - depending on their comfort level - when there are needs we cannot cover. We do engage in a conversation about this first, and if there is not a comfort level we will respect that.
