Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school or educational environments
• Valid nationally recognized interpreting certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC), or eligibility to obtain certification
• Ability to interpret both one-on-one and in group instructional settings
• Strong collaboration skills for working closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff
• Committed to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism at all times

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear communication between students, faculty, and staff by providing real-time interpreting services in classrooms and school activities
• Adapt interpreting techniques to various subjects and age groups
• Work proactively with educators to understand lesson plans and support instructional goals
• Participate in educational meetings and help build inclusive environments
• Provide feedback to staff on communication effectiveness, when appropriate
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and student progress as needed
