LHH Recruitment is seeking a Jr Accountant to work for a great organization in the Westbury, NY area.

Our organization is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to provide temporary support to the Finance team. This position will contribute to a variety of accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, financial tracking, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to quickly learn new systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and process invoices and reimbursement claims for government-funded programs.
• Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and monitor outstanding balances.
• Track project and program expenditures to ensure alignment with budgets.
• Assist with monthly account reconciliations and general ledger support.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering and providing requested financial records.
• Enter and validate accounting data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
• Prepare routine financial reports and assist with ad hoc reporting requests.
• Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance Department as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, billing, or accounts receivable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software platforms.
• Prior accounting experience within a nonprofit organization is a plus.
