About Your Role The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for: independently providing outpatient diagnostic, treatment, and preventive health care services; management of chronic illness; utilizing appropriate referrals and consultation to staff physician and community specialist; working in an integrated team with behavioral health providers, health educators, and dental hygienists; and providing health education to patients. School-based health center (SBHC) nurse practitioners work during the academic school year (approximately 10 months) based on the district calendar. They work out of a primary, middle, or high school location, but sometimes need to cover other sites, either SBHCs or community clinics in Adams County. Work Hours: Part-time. 22.5-30 hours per week during the school year (approzimately 10 months annually) Compensation Range: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour (depending on experience) Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities Patient Experience & Clinical Support Prepare patients for visits and assist providers during examinations and procedures. Perform basic clinical procedures, including immunizations and specimen collection (as trained). Provide patient education and follow-up instructions as directed. Patient Care & Education Provides patient and family education to promote wellness, to prevent health problems, and to maintain current health status as well as intervene in acute or chronic illness states. Demonstrates evidence-based and quality clinical care with sound judgement and documentation within expected timeframes. Learns and demonstrates coding and billing accuracy and participates in biannual coding and billing audits. Coordinates client care with other community professionals and organizations for optimal care. Team Collaboration & Leadership Works collaboratively with the supervising pediatrician, assistant medical director, clinic management team, nurse practitioner team, and other team members. Works collaboratively with the school and the school district to determine student needs and align clinic care and offerings accordingly. Participates in the chart audit process as specified in the quality improvement program. Participates in planning of clinic provider schedule to ensure clinic coverage. Provides input into the decision-making process by attending provider and clinic staff meetings. Assists in developing goals and objectives for the program, including quality improvement initiatives. Participates in solution-focused problem-solving of issues and concerns affecting the pediatric/adolescent program. Comfort in leading a team (medical assistants, health educators, and behavioral health providers) independently with alignment on organizational goals, exemplifying positive communication, respectful, and inclusive behaviors of families, patients, and co-workers. Demonstrates meeting the clinic standards of respect, communication, inclusivity, and forming trust in all interactions with staff and patients/families. Professional Standards Maintains current continuing educational hours, certification, and licensure. Participates in call coverage 4-6 weeks out of the year to handle more urgent needs of clinic patients and vaccine-related stage issues as they might arise. Assist with other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Needed to be Successful Colorado pediatric or family nurse practitioner licensure Board certification CPR certification DEA and Full Prescriptive Authority Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. 2+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in pediatrics preferred. Specialized Skills Strong communication skills with patients, families, schools, and interdisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently while collaborating within an integrated care model. Strong clinical judgement and documentation skills. Ability to lead care teams with professionalism and inclusivity. Commitment to serving vulnerable and underserved pediatric populations.
