Clinical Graduate Research Associate - South San Francisco (Part Time / Hybrid) Graduate Research Associate - Clinical Outcomes * Unable to sponsor a part time role. South San Francisco, CA | Part-time to start - up to 20 hours per week | $50 per hour The Graduate Research Associate, Clinical Outcomes will help evaluate and communicate the clinical impact of healthcare software, data, and decision-support solutions. This role is ideal for a graduate student who wants to apply rigorous research methods to practical healthcare questions and produce evidence that informs product strategy, customer conversations, and market-facing communications. Key Responsibilities Partner with clinical, product, analytical, and business leaders to identify high-value clinical outcomes questions. Translate open-ended questions into testable hypotheses, measurable endpoints, comparison populations, and practical study designs. Design and conduct observational, quasi-experimental, and other analyses using claims, EHR, clinical, utilization, operational, or similar real-world data. Apply epidemiologic, biostatistical, and causal-inference methods to assess outcomes while accounting for confounding, selection effects, and other sources of bias. Conduct sensitivity analyses and validation work to evaluate the robustness of findings. Document methodologies, assumptions, limitations, and results so findings can withstand clinical, analytical, and customer scrutiny. Translate complex results into clear charts, research summaries, presentations, and recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences. Partner with product, marketing, sales, and clinical teams to ensure external claims remain accurate and appropriately reflect the evidence. Help build a repeatable framework for measuring clinical impact across products and healthcare use cases. Identify opportunities for deeper studies, customer research, conference submissions, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications. Qualifications Currently pursuing an MPH, MS, DrPH, PhD, or comparable advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, health informatics, outcomes research, or a related field. Strong foundation in research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, or causal inference. Experience designing and conducting quantitative analyses using healthcare, clinical, claims, EHR, or other complex real-world datasets. Proficiency with at least one statistical or analytical programming environment, such as R, Python, SAS, or Stata. Ability to develop a structured research plan from an open-ended clinical or business question. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings clearly. Intellectual curiosity and comfort working across clinical, analytical, product, and business perspectives. Preferred Experience Propensity scores, matched cohorts, difference-in-differences, interrupted time series, or related real-world evidence methods. Healthcare quality measures, clinical outcomes, utilization measures, healthcare economics, or clinical workflow analysis. Research resulting in a publication, poster, conference presentation, thesis, or similar scholarly output. Interest in healthcare technology, clinical decision support, data products, and how software affects care delivery and patient outcomes. Work Arrangement - Hybrid flexible This is a part-time opportunity based in South San Francisco with flexibility to accommodate an academic schedule.
