Location: Savage

Shifts: 1st Shift (5:30 AM – 4:00 PM) | 2nd Shift (4:00 PM – 2:30 AM)

Pay: 28-33

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder specializing in Flux Core MIG welding (FCAW) to support fabrication of bridge components up to 1/2" thick . This is a hands-on role where you’ll work directly from blueprints, perform layout and full fabrication, and operate a variety of shop equipment.

This position is ideal for welders who take initiative and want to grow into a Lead Welder role , with opportunities for advancement based on performance and skill development.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform flux core MIG (FCAW) welding on structural steel components for bridge projects

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols to execute layouts and fabrication

• Perform vertical (3G), overhead, and flat welds to meet quality standards

• Set up and complete structural welds in accordance with specifications

• Operate overhead cranes and jib cranes to safely move materials

• Use fabrication tools such as:

• Band saws

• Drill presses

• Stud welders

• Grinders

• Work across the shop floor (not confined to a single weld bay)

• Weld in varied positions , including confined or awkward spaces when needed

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

• Work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision

• Support team members and grow into a leadership/Lead Welder role

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience in structural steel welding (FCAW / flux core MIG)

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform full fabrication layouts

• Experience with vertical welding (3G vertical up)

• Ability to pass required welding tests:

• 3F and 4F (within first few days)

• 3G vertical up (within first month)

• Ability to pass a 3G vertical up weld test on 7/8" plate with full penetration (X-ray tested)

• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail

• Physical ability to:

• Lift up to 50 lbs

• Kneel, stoop, and crawl regularly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in bridge fabrication or large structural steel projects

• Prior experience as a Lead Welder or team lead

• Experience operating overhead/jib cranes

• Hands-on fabrication experience with shop equipment

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
